In 1851 their daughter Catherine was living with her McKenzie grand-parents in Carron. John, James and Elizabeth, below, living in Grahamston at the time of their marriage in 1870.
In 1891 John was living with his new wife , Sarah McRoberts (age 46, born Ireland), her father John, and a visitor Margaret Penman (age 29 born in Longdyke) a private nurse. She is probably the daughter of George Penman and Jane Grossart, but could be a distant cousin.
