JOHN HUSKIE or HOTCHKISS
JANET KELLY (KELLIE) |
Father Mother |
GEORGE HOTCHKIES EUPHEMIA RAE |
1881 census at Carronshore East with chn: Euphemia, John, Jessie, Jane, Catherine, George, Carronshore. Note that James was born Hotchkiss and not Huskie. These are variants of the same name. In the local dialect both are pronounced hoochki.
Note form Rex Hotchkiss: This the Hotchkiss line of Valerie
Anderson. Valerie is a member of the Hotchkiss line which includes William
Hotchkiss of Hawkeswood (before 1580 -first Hotchkiss lord of Sudbury in
Shropshire, England, the 8th generation - his mother's mother makes 9
generations) and James Hotchkiss (about 1730 former lord of Sudbury in
Shropshire, England) who sold Sudbury and moved to Edinburgh, where he married
Elizabeth Cleghorn, a brewers daughter. It appears that the name Huskie
actually stuck with some of those in this family. The marriage of James
and Catherine may be the only place these lines cross since before 1580. You can
follow the line back from the Hotchkiss Clan record here.
